Formed in 1997, skin contact grew out of founder Kevin Breidenbach's interest in both electronic music & computers. Early works were influenced heavily by the EBM & industrial dance music of the 90's, also incorporating other electronic elements. Over time, other influences have crept in, including drum & bass, power/rhythmic noise, IDM, and other forms of electronic music.
In addition to skin contact, Kevin has another solo electronic project called Fugue State, which leans more towards the experimental/IDM side of things. Over the years, he's done a number of remixes for acts such as The Mercy Cage, N.U.T.E, Cholostase, 3am, and others. He has also been involved with two collaborative projects- Cogitate, with Rick Bakos of Gross National Produkt (3 tracks were recorded in 2001 & released online); and Krushed Opiates, with D. Smith & Al Warr. KO released an album on DSBP records in 2002 entitled Driving The Two-Dimensional Highway, which was well-received, though not a huge success.
When not working on music, Kevin does freelance sound design work. He currently has a sample CD available from SoundEngine.com entitled Perc Werks, and also does sounds for the monthly e-zine/sound subscription service at Wusik.com, the Wusik Sound Magazine. |
